Lake Moondarra is 19.5km north of Mount Isa and offers a range of activities, including swimming, boating, water-skiing, sailing, canoeing, and fishing. While camping is restricted to the Lake Moondarra Fishing Classic in October, the lake is open from 6am to 10pm throughout the year. Visitors can enjoy a refreshing swim at sunset or moonlight, and take in the stunning outback views. The lake’s surroundings also provide plenty of picturesque spots for photos.
How to get to Lake Moondarra
To get to Lake Moondarra, it is about a 20 minute drive from Mount Isa via the Barkly Highway and Moondarra Drive.
- Head north out of Mount Isa along Barkly Highway for 4.5 km
- Turn right onto Moondarra Drive and follow for 15 km
