Details
Lake Ainsworth is a popular freshwater swimming hole and kayaking lake in Lennox Head, just down the road from Byron Bay. The lake is filled with tea-tree tannins and oils from the surrounding trees which are beneficial for the skin, and are said to have antiseptic and anti-inflammatory properties. The lake’s unique composition is due to the surrounding tea trees, which leak their tannins and oils into the water, giving it a distinct brown color. Despite its unusual appearance, the lake is a favourite among locals and visitors alike, who come to enjoy its tranquil atmosphere, scenic surroundings, and potential health benefits of the water. The lake is also home to a variety of birdlife and other wildlife, making it a great spot for nature lovers and those looking for a calmer place to have a swim or a paddle.
