Details
Boulder Creek is a swimming hole on a rocky creek north west of Mackay. The water is crystal clear and the pool is shaded by rainforest. You could probably drink straight out of the creek it’s so clean (but please don’t do this as we can’t gaurantee the water quality). The swimming hole is located about 100m downstream from the causeway.
Please Note: There used to be a free camping area by the road at Boulder Creek, but this has since closed down and the camping area is now fenced off.
Location:
Calen Mount Charlton Road, Mount Charlton, QLD
Directions:
From Mackay.
*Head north west along the Bruce Highway for 46km.
*Turn left onto Mirani – Mount Ossa Road and follow it for 15km.
*Turn right onto Calen Mount Charlton Road.
*After 1.3km you will come to the Boulder Creek causeway.
*Park and walk 100m downstream to the waterhole.

What happened to the camp area,???, fence and gate,??, not any area to pull up, beautiful spot.
Hi Jim, The free camping area was closed a while ago unfortunately. The small swimming hole downstream was still good for swimming the last time I checked!
