Talroo Hot Springs Swimming Options
There is an entry fee to access Talaroo Hot Springs, and this includes a guided tour along a boardwalk which winds its way over the hot springs. This not only ensures the preservation of the land and its stories but also directly supports the local community, making every visit a meaningful contribution to the continuation of Ewamian culture and traditions.
There is no swimming permitted in the actual hot springs themselves, instead a bathing pool has been constructed next to the springs, and is filled with warm water from the hot springs. At the end of the tour, visitors are welcome to relax and revitalise in the bathing pool.
For a more intimate experience, private soaking tanks are available for an extra fee. The tanks are filled with water from the hot springs.
Besides the hot springs bathing pool, there are a couple of other swimming options at Talaroo Hot Springs. There is a chlorinated pool located in front of the cafe, which is free for public use, but it can be a little chilly early in the season as it’s not heated. Visitors can also swim in the refreshing waters of the Einasleigh River, just a short stroll from the cafe.
Talaroo Hot Springs Camping & Accomodation
There are a range of accomodation options at Talaroo Hot Springs including a caravan park with powered and unpowered sites, a campground with BBQ’s and kitchen, and eco tents for those wanting a little more comfort. If you are staying the night, then be prepared for a spectacular outback sunset. As the sun dips below the horizon, the nightly Yarning Circle comes alive. Gather around the warm, dancing flames of the firepit, and share stories and laughter with other travellers while gazing up at the stars.
Located in the heart of Queensland’s pristine Gulf Savannah, Talaroo Hot Springs is a must visit destination along the Savannah Way. The journey from Cairns is a scenic four and a half hours by road, and is accessible by conventional vehicles. Also, don’t forget to pack a bike so you can ride the new Talaroo Bike Trail free of charge.
