Details
The Behana Gorge Walking Track follows a concrete service road all the way up to the gorge to the swimming hole and Clamshell Falls. The hike is 3.3km one way, and you return along the same path, so it’s 6.6km in total. It’s quite a steep grade in sections, but the service road is in good condition. The walking track is shaded by trees in the morning, and afternoon, but it can be quite a hot and sunny walk in the middle of the day.
There is a parking area at the end of Behana Gorge Road where you can park your car. You will also find a toilet near the car park in a small brick building, so make sure you go before the hike, because there are no toilets at the gorge or swimming hole. The toilet is not signposted.
Dogs are not allowed on the Behana Gorge Walking Track, and bicycles are not allowed either. This is a fairly steep hike, but it is a kid friendly hike and you can even wheel a pram most of the way.
